To say that race is scientifically nonexistent is an overstatement.
It's true that genetically, race is a vanishingly minor factor compared to
other commonalities, but there are still genetic patterns that follow
tradiitonal "racial" lines (e.g. traits that occur almost exclusively in a given
race), and there's also more to the category than genetics. A very recent
issue of _Scientific_American_ had a good exploration of the topic.
