IPA uses one of two systems to represent tones. One system uses the acute
accent for high tone, macron for mid tone, grave for low tone, and
combinations of these for rising and falling tones. The other system uses=

represents the pitch of the tone, attached to a vertical line.
SAMPA uses _B, _L, _M, _H, and _T for level tones from low to high, _R =

rising and _F for falling.
