Umm, I think that most of those who are now in the 'scholarship' camp
(including yours truly) have tried translating something or other into
the Elvish languages, but have now given up.

Overall, however, I'd say that there's a quite a few folks who are
totally aware of the fact that what they try to write is not quite
Tolkien stuff, and explicitly do not pretend to write Tolkien stuff.
Personally, I have no problem with them.
