Nik, your scenario rather reminds me of Prof. M.A.R. Barker's
comment's about his languages: they are said to be descendants of
today's Earth languages, but so far in the future they bear no more
discernible relationship to the structures of today's languages than
our own languages bear to palaeolithic tongues.
