I do feel confuse.

I can't resist this hungry look, and I will share my "piece of
language".
- general sketch : the language will have case marking, nominative,
accusative, dative, genitive, instrumental and locative. As I recently
discovered Dik's grammar, I'm trying to take account of semantic
functions (Agent, Force...) so things may change about case marking.
There is no gender, but there are 5 numbers : 'nullitive' (if there is a
better word ... ;)), singular, (definite) plural, indefinite and
collective. The language should be agglutinative and SOV.
- elements of phonology :
Here is the vowel system (it will not evolve anymore) :
| Front | mid | back
| | |
high | /i/ | | /u/
| | |
mid | /e/, /ei/ | /@/ | /o/, /ou/
| | |
low | | /a/,/a@/ |
schwa is never stressed, and reports accent on the preceeding vowel.
Every short vowel represents a time unit, and every diphtong represents
two time units.
The syllable pattern is as follows :
Onset : maximum of two consonants
Rhyme : maximum of two moras. Each element in the rhyme represents a
mora, so : the coda can have only one consonant. If there is a coda, the
nucleus must be a short vowel; if there is no coda, the nucleus can be a
diphtong.
We obtain those patterns :
- light syllables : CV or CCV
- heavy syllables : CVV, CCVV, CVC, CCVC
(intensity) Stress falls on the last heavy syllable. If there is no
heavy syllable, stress falls on the penultimate one (except for /@/).
I hope I was clear enough, do not hesitate to say me if I'm wrong or not
clear.
I will show you consontants another time because it's a little bit late
;).

Thank you very much for this welcoming. You gessed it right, I'm french
( I've been living in Toulouse for four years).
Bye to everyone :)
