It's a pseudonym, that's why it isn't capitalized

Could possibly still be crazy, probably was once

[Qualifications (academic and professional)]:
Advanced degrees in Math, lesser degrees in other Sciences
Professional work experience in Software Engineering
Currently unemployed and disabled

[Preferences within linguistics]:
I like:
CFG (but I'm not a Chomskyite, though I kind of like Chomsky)
Not much into cognitive, but sometimes like it
Not any good at Fieldwork
Used to look into Historical a bit more than I do now
Really like Morphology
Have looked a lot at Phonology, not so much any more
Never looked much at Sociolinguistics, maybe I should
Want one day to look at Tagmemics
Really like Typology/Universals
Haven't done much with Vocabulary/Semantics since joining the list
Quite like Syntax (non-Chomsky)

Not a professional
No longer an "official" student (not enrolled in any classes nor
seeking any degrees)

[Facial hair]:
Neither bearded nor moustachioed so much as habitually poorly shaven

[Handedness]:
Right-handed except for auto-erotic purposes (There's such a thing as
too much information, isn't there?)

[Sensory assistance devices worn on face]:
Legally blind by the old standards, but they must have been
unrealistically strict; with glasses (bifocals) I see just fine.
Can't use contacts any more because contact lenses can't correct for
astigmatism, and my astigmatism became too big a part of my need for
correction.
And, yes, the eyesight thing would need a different entry for each
eye.

Don't have a hearing-aid; haven't been told I need one yet.

[Sexuality]:
Wish I was hetero-, but instead am simply a-, -sexual. (Was hetero-
from about 1973 or a little earlier until, maybe, 1998 or a little
later.)

[Other creative and/or artistic and/or speculative activities]:
I like singing and have performed solos and in choirs; play the
piano, and wish I could play an instrument well enough for someone
else to want to listen; used to role-play, but now mainly read for my
science-fiction and fantasy fixes.

[Gender]
[(broke the rule and gave grammatical gender]
[instead of merely biological gender)]
Male; am a father (one daughter); probably will never reproduce in
future; have never been a mother and will never be one;

Fully animate (not bound to one location);
living;
"rational" (well, I'm _capable_ of reason);
sentient;
concrete (not abstract).

Mosquitos, for instance, seem to see me in the "vegetable gender",
that is, as something which can be consumed in order to support life.

I probably would take the numeral classifier for Round Squishy
Objects in whichever North-American indigenous language uses that one.

[Age -- Have conlanged how long]
54 y/o
conlanged over 46 years (don't know exactly how long)
on list much shorter time

[Belief]
B++ and a lot of B--- and about as much B? and a little of B*, if I
understood it correctly.

[Auxlangs]
I like some auxlangs, used to look in to them more than I do now,
have never had the urge to help develop one.

[Esperanto]
E without any pluses or minuses; I have looked it over, and
especially like the famous "table of correlatives"; but have never
tried to learn how to use Esperanto seriously enough to have any
noticeable success.

[Loglanging]
L+ (making an effort to disambiguate can't hurt).

[Natlangs]
Fluent only in my L1, English.
Read French fluently, have gotten by in it with no other common
language available.
Read German, not fluently, have limped in it with no other common
language available.
Have studied Tamil
Have studied Hindi, but don't think it should really count
Have studied Chinese, especially the writing; used to be better than
I am now, although that was never very good.
Have tried to study Japanese -- still "trying" off and on on my own
Once tried to seek out a Tagalog class.

(If I tell people I know French or German, eventually they think I
was lying to them. If I tell people I don't know French or German,
eventually they think I was lying to them. So, just guess about
whether or not I know those languages.)

[Interest]:
What's most interesting/easy to do, the stuff you concentrate on,
perhaps neglecting other things in the process.

AFMCL I'm "big" on Morphology, Syntax, Pragmatics, Surrounding
Culture, Vocabulary/Semantics, and Phonology/Phonetics --
approximately in that order.

I'm just not big into the diachronics of my conlang(s). Maybe I
should be, and maybe I will be not too long from now.

[Conculturing]
I am trying to conculture as well as conlang. I suppose they are
equally important to me. I really don't know how to fit myself into
the categories on the questionnaire.

[Isolating/incorporating/Fusional/Agglutinating]:
I haven't made up my mind yet. I want my conlang to be all of these
at once; I haven't figured out a way that could be logically
possible, however.

[Phonology]
P-
My conlang has nearly as many different phonemes as it can and still
be considered "medium" (by size of phoneme inventory). However it
has rather few vowels for a medium-sized vowel inventory. It's a
medium-medium phonology.

[Syllable-structure]
s A balance is best, I aim for the natlang mean, whatever that is.

[Productivity/perseverance]
I've been working on just the one conlang for all 46 years. I
actually haven't decided yet how many conlangs it is; in fact I have
recently decided I need three concultures, rather than two, and so I
may need three conlangs. But these three concultures will form a
diachronic sequence, so the conlangs will as well; which is why I
might need to start paying better attention to historical linguistics.

["Out of closet"-ness or level of pushing the craft:]
o Those who ask, are told.

(BTW I wonder if its really true that the portion of gays in
conlanging is actually higher than it is in the "straight" (i.e. non-
conlanging) world? I would think it's just that gays who conlang
find no need to stay in the closet -- once you've admitted to
_conlanging_, what further shame could there possibly be?)

:-)

[List Participation]
Probably P+. I post more often than most, both new posts and replies
to others' threads; but am not the most prolific poster, and try to
limit my impulses.

[Seniority on the list]
S---
February 16 2006. Newish, in other words.

[Name of conlang]:
Haven't decided yet.
"Working titles" are Adpihi and/or Reptigan.
