Re: CHAT Stambul (was: A new version of Genesis)

When I was young, we used to live a few km from a
100,000 people town, and when we went shopping or
doing other activities there, we said "je vais en
ville" (I'm going [in]to city).

When I settled in Paris suburbs and kept saying so,
meaning "going to Paris", I usually was mocked by
people living there. They said: what city ? there is
nothing else than city, here.

So I stopped saying "je vais en ville", just like I
stopped pronouncing "vinte" for "vingt", for similar
reasons; now I pronounce "vingt" (twenty) like "vin"
(wine) and everybody is happy.
