Sorry for late reply, I'm a bit sick, and didn't check my e-mail
yesterday. But indeed, I have no slightest idea, neither has my wife
(she is a professional interpreter of German). Maybe it really has smth
to do with German distinguishing [C] and [X], while Yiddish has only [X]
(or [x] here in Ukraine).
