[1] (cxs [i\]) is a standard pronunciation of Russian ы.

These sounds are regularily confused in almost all territiry of Ukraine. Mostly because of the fact that Ru. ы often corresponds to Uk. и, cf. Ru. сыр - Uk. сир 'cheese'.

I insist on [I_o] in stressed position and [e] in unstressed (where it coincides with reflex of е), so мене/ 'me.Gen' and мине/ 'pass.3sn' are both pronounced as [me"nE]. -------------------- Mark J. Reed wrote:
