In Silindion the gerunds are used, with the
nominative. There are many gerunds in Silindion:
1) conjunctive gerund (for events happening
simultaneous and in the future)
2) anterior gerund (for events having already been
completed)
3) abessive gerund (for events that never happened or
won't happen)
Example sentences:
1) Conjunctive Gerund:
(While,Since,As, etc) the priest was chanting, the
congregation praised Alarie
yempina i noyondo, asseskë i mahwilni Alarienu.
The priest chanting, the congregation praised Alarie.
y-empi-na i noyondo
CONJ-chant-GER the priest
a-tesk-ë i mahwilni Alarie-nu
AUG-praise-PAST the congregation Alarie-DAT
2)Anterior Gerund:
(Since, After) the hero had come, the whole army
rejoiced.
filisë i lairos, anyenë naksi hanuri.
The hero having come, the whole army rejoiced.
fil-isë i lairos
come-GER.ANT the hero
a-Dyen-ë naksi hanu-ri
AUG-rejoice-PAST all army-GEN.
3) (Since, After) the hunter didn't shoot the deer,
his family lacked food.
eswanga i laván i lëorna, eissë ivannya pentén
(the hunter not shooting the deer, his family lacked
food)
e-hwang-na i laván i lëos-na
ABB-shoot-GER the hunter the deer-acc
