Usually the other way around, as in both French and Spanish.
/g/ -> /dZ/ -> /Z/ (before front vowels)
Then Spanish went further with:
/Z/ -> /S/ -> /x/
Parallelly:
/k/ -> /ts/ -> /s/ (or -> /T/ in Castillian) - before front vowels.
