Indeed he did, the changes from Proto-Eldarin to Sindarin almost exactly
parallel those from British/Latin to Welsh. However the modifications
needed to get from Pr. E. to Quenya are rather few, shortening of unstressed
long vowels and loss of most voiced stops to give the language a more
Finnish look (/b/ >> /w/ >> /v/; /d/ >> /l/; /g/ >> /null/?), plus a few
minor changes. So putting Q. through the GMP should produce something quite
like Sindarin although not identical. The results should be quite instructive.
