About 2 million Jews in NYC, almost 5 million in Israel.  But New York
City is still one of the largest African cities (!), with 2.2M persons
of black African descent, surpassed in Africa itself only by Lagos, Kinshasa,
and Abidjan, most of whose growth has resulted from migration over the past
20 years.  (There are larger cities in South Africa and along the Mediterranean
shore.)
