As for Finnish...
>IE *_ghel-_ 'shine'; Finnish _keltainen_ 'yellow'; Greek _Keltoi_
A loan from Baltic.
>IE *_magh-_ 'to be able, to have power'; Finnish _voimakas_ 'strong'; >Hungarian _Magyar_
Voimakas is derived from voima "strength, force", which itself is from voida "can, be able to". Try mahti "power" instead. Compare with Germanic Macht, makt, might.
>IE *_math-_ 'worm'; Finnish _mato_ 'worm'
Yes; Germanic loan. I guess the English word maggot is related...?
>Germanic *_jehwla_; Finnish _juhla_ 'celebration, festival, party'
I don't know, but it sounds likely that they are connected. If *jehwla also is the origin of Swedish jul "Christmas", that was later borrowed to Finnish again as joulu. :)

I guess this must be Quenya and mean something like "In the beginning, Eru created the Sky and the Earth...", but why do I keep understanding <I yessessë> to mean "last year", I wonder... M.
