For Thailand, thare's also the albino elephants kept by the kings of
Siam (featured on the national flag from 1816-1916).  These were
revered throughout the region, though, I think.

Elephant might also be good for Laos, the so-called "land of a million
elephants" (their old flags had elephants on them as well, it seems).
Admittedly, Laos is probably not the most obvious match for
"elephant", but I don't know what would be a better match for Laos.
