Well, I'm expecting it to be pretty good. I think the disappointment stems
from two things:
(1) There's been a *whole* lot of artificial hype about the movies
recently; they're making it out to be the cinematic version of the
recent Impeachment trial here. Constant coverage of every move,
every detail.
(2) A lot of the people who're seeing are not young kids, but
were when they first saw the original movies starting in 1977.
These people have of course grown up, and can now appreciate
movies on a far deeper level. When they get a movie that is just
about on the same level as the originals (they were all written at
the same time, all nine of them), they forget to think that their
original impressions of the other movies (the ones that have
continued to stay with them for sentimental reasons) were through
very different eyes.
Anyways, that's my guess at least, for a lot of 'em.
