While concerns with artificial sweeteners have reinforced said antipathy, they
didn't start it off. That I'm much more concerned with aspartame than with
most possibly harmful substances in food or drink is probably a good
indication which way the cause-effect relationship goes.
That milk is an exception is easy enough to explain - when I was a kid, we
always had light milk at home*, which caused me to think that normal milk
tastes "wrong". I've successfully avoided getting used to it since.
* This, no doubt, was a leftover from one of my parents' slimming projects.
Another, which has drawn much more comment over the years, is my preference
for not having butter on my bread.
