Schpamm?!

Hey!
Today, I've got a mail from Mr Madhukar N. Gogate, titled
"Visit language website". I (hope that I) was careful and
downloaded this mail onto a floppy and opened it with a
text editor under Linux. The content was just:
> - Madhukar N. Gogate (India)
> Email mngogate@vsnl.com
> http://balasainet.com/mngogate
> (Site on languages, science etc)
Hrm. I hate that. Mails where nothing is in there but a
link. Some months ago, I got a message "Hi!", and the girl
writing that seemed to be seriously interested in
conlanging OTOH. I googled after the name in the from-field
and found postings to various fora about Latin and writing
as the only hits.
So people out there, bare in mind to always give emails a
sensible header so that the person whom you send your mail
doesn't throw your mail away because he thinks it's spam.
And second, please put a description of what you want the
reader to say acutally into the body of the message! That
can't be so difficult after all!
Yours,
Carsten
