Weelll..apron has certain connotations, at least for Engl. speakers....my strategy in cases like this is to weasel out by glossing "a sort of XXX", then giving a full description. (You might also liken it to the Scottish sporran, even though it's not a purse/pouch.) Kash "shorts" (worn for sports, dirty work etc) best resemble the garment known as "culotte" (except it's worn by women here), which looks like a loose short skirt, but has separate openings for the legs. I really dislike the term "fanny pack" and did not use it to gloss "epilacim", even though it's pretty much what that is.
