That's not unlikely at all. How could you tell which dialect of
Spanish is the right one. Some pronounce [x] and others [h]. But in
the vowels, this is much more obvious: English (Received
Pronunciation) [E] isn't the same as French [E] or as German [E]; or
English (Received Pronunciation) [&] isn't the same as English
(Standard American) [&] isn't the same as Alemannic German [&]. Which
one is right?
