John Cowan> My favorite insult: "Your parents were brothers!"
I like it. :)
John Cowan> ObConlang: in Lojban, that's "lo rorci be do cu bruna
John Cowan> lo te rorci be do".
Let's see, my attempt at a literal translation back into English:
"The real one who begat you (with an unspecified other person) is the
brother of the real one who begat you"
Whoo-ee, that's wordy. I know Lojban is all about precision, but
is there not a less precise way of expressing that for everyday
use? :)
I don't know much Lojban, but is there some way of referring back to
"the same sumti that was in the Nth place of the previous bridi"
without having to repeat the brivla? If so, it seems that you could
use "lo rorci do cu bruna [previous x1]".
Since this is a conlang list, not a Lojban list, let me
also render the insult into Methkaeki:
Sotelithbiv rigodi dlusiliv!
