An auxlang can't be a cure-all, but it could certainly help. Most auxlangers have come to think that an easy-to-learn 2nd language for adults would prevent at least some of the misunderstanding that makes war more likely. By keeping to a simple interlanguage, never to replace the "natural" langs, this might even help to remind people that there is more than one right way to think, and that people everywhere deserve equal respect. Except for the "leaders" who get us into these wars and seek to divide the people in order to gain power for themselves. Even when idealism becomes a bit quixotic, it appeals to me. I love the auxlangs, Ido, Glosa, Occidental, all of them. Here's my polemical page (really, just some favorite links): http://catty.com/~catty/lang/occidental.htm -- As they say in Tepa: hike waipettu.
