You may have in mind William J. Entwistle, _The Spanish Language, together
with the Portuguese, Catalan and Basque [!]_, 2d ed. 1962, which details the
Latin > Span sound changes, but to my recollection doesn't get much into
pronunciation.....but I read it a long time ago.
