such came up, why doesn't everybody say where there from, what languages they speak, and something else of interest? Hey Hey. i'm Byron (or Luc, take your pick). I'm Canuck, born in Edmonton, Alberta, but consider my home to be Grande Prairie, Alta. Consequently, as most Canucks do, i brag about my cold-weather tolerance. (i remember once waiting for the cheezer for 15 minutes in a thin coat, and wondering why it never showed up. i went back home, and realised it was -47C, and the busses wern't running). As for language proficiency, i am a typical western Canadian Anglophone Monoglot. I tried my hand at French in high school (you simply wouldn't believe how half-assed they teach it up here)and i'v taken a year of icelandic, and am currently taking an intro latin course. Unfortunately, it looks as if i'm destined to a life of studying languages, rather than learning them. I'm currently enrolled in the University of Manitoba (3rd year), taking such things as Morphology, Syntax, and World Ethnography. As for music interests, they're as eclectic as most others seem to be on this list - i especially like world/ethnographic recordings where bizarre vocal techniques are used. consequently, i'm interested in Tyvan overtone singing, Sardinian a tenore quartets, and Bulgarian women's choirs. I also like some more left-of-centre electronic music, such as Mouse on Mars, Pole, Oval, Autechre, and the like. oh, i can't forget to mention Ravi Shankar as well, the 40-fingered Sitar God. My language-building projects are few - i started a project called Syma in high school, but that did at birth since i didn't know wot the bluidy hell i was doing at the time. my current project is shdeete, a SVO prefixing language influenced by Canadian aboriginal languages such as Nehiyawewin and Annishabeg. hoo! i go on. back to lurk-mode! luc. --------------------------------------------------- CLI/C l% m+ cG:R:C:H a++ y n2:5d R?
