Teach Yourselfs are great! Sometimes they are hilarious, like the old
Teach Yourself Turkish (hardback), which had our Turkish trainee virtually
rolling on the floor, others, like Teach Yourself Sanskrit are actually
the best introduction to the language available.
I didn't like the new, black covers with the larger size, though. Those
small blue or blue/yellow ones were so incredibly handy, and their
catalogue is still quite extensive.
http://www.teachyourselfbooks.com/foreignlanguage.html reveals 151 titles,
including fun languages like Zulu and Maltese (although they also put Feng
Shui, Buddhism, Body Language and Islam amongst the foreign languages),
but they appear to have dropped Sanskrit!.
