ok, a very valid idea (esp'ly in a conlang with a different worldview from
the Eurocentric paradigm). =) !!!
Perhaps a word meaning "knowledge" or "theory" or "scholarship" would be
more accurate & less idiomatic (esp'ly to people outside of the Euro-science
sphere of influence)
... also this has me re-evaluating my conlang Synthrax's lexicon &
thinking of less culturally-idiomatic wordings for such things as "clock,"
"stopwatch," "timeline," etc.. . = i.e. chronoscope, chronometer, chronograph
* seem more precise & unified lexically & semantically... & more like a
word-compounding of many isolating/analytical languages and some Pidgins &
Creoles.

*[chrono-scope => used to see time,
chrono-meter => used to measure time,
chrono-graph => a very good alternative to "timeline," which presupposes
that historical time is wholly linear when in many cultures time is cyclical,
spiral, or even indeterminate.]
