I don't really know what you'd want to do to, uh, simulate the
real-world situation; it varies so extensively that it's hard to make
any kind of reasonable predictions.

If you're in need of a tool to apply sound changes, you might enjoy
Geoff's Sound Change Applier*, which is like that Rosenfelder's program
but much more powerful; I use it to make diverging dialects of Seinundjé.
