I'd like to point out that with the conlang list mirrored at egroups.com, we currently have the best of both these worlds. If you want to, you can interact with the conlang list in web-based forum format, with the threads somewhat conveniently threaded, and all that. You can even post new messages from the web interface, *IF* you have subscribed to conlang through the normal method via the listserver (just signing up on egroups isn't good enough).
