No, my /r/ is definitely not retroflex.

Not for me.

Definitely not. Apart from the fact that I have no retroflexion, the
word "error" is quite distinctly two syllables with a consonantal [r\]
in the middle. [r\r\=] is not the same as [r\=:] any more than [ji] is
the same as [i:] or [wu] is the same as [u:].
