Well, "My Dear Aunt Sally" was extended as we learned more; the longer
version varies more, but the most common version seems to be the one I
was taught: "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally", the P and E standing
for Parentheses and Exponents, respectively. (In American, "brackets"
means [], not (), and "order" does not immediately bring powers to
mind.)
