And I can't believe that there is any way any part of California, North,
Cetral, South, East, West, polkadot-hopscotch, could be among the poorest
anythings in the US.  Are you forgetting that the US still includes West
Virginia, Arkansas, and other really ecconomically disadvantaged areas?

And as for Southern Cal holding its positio without the aid of North and
Central Cal. . . I don't buy it.  But what has this got to do with
conlanging??
