Would they not be /d_m/ and /t_m/? Or possibly /d_b/ and /t_p/?
What I'm thinking of sounds halfway betweet /d/ and /b/ for the first, and
halfway between /t/ and /p/ for the second, made with your tongue and upper
lip.
Incidentally, would a linguolabial nasal then be /n_b/, /m_n/, /m_p/ or
what?
Geoff.
PS- FYI, I'm trying to make this language as different from Xinkutlan as
possible within the confines of the human mind & mouth, and without using
tones, which I'm not comfortable with, at least not for inserting into a
conlang in any thought-out way. It'll probably end up being highly
isolating, with an OSV syntax or something equally brain-frying, and I'm
thinking about nasal and non-nasal vowels as an avenue of exploration...
