Please not. English has tons of vowel and diphthong/triphthong
phonemes - about as many as consonant phonemes, perhaps. So they
already start off as a disadvantage when you consider the number of
letters allocated to them in the traditional orthography.
So, go ahead and reduce the number of vowel letters below five, but
only if you reduce the number of consonant letter below five as well.
