I have been researching Chinese Pidgin English (China Coast Pidgin
English) recently.
I have found information leading me to the fact that it is still spoken
and possibly even written bilingually on the island of Nauru and that the
locals there call it _Ham Soi_<<Seawater language>>.
I have done several websearches but I can't seem to get anywhere very
well (*$#@ing aol browser!!!)
I have found only one major book citation:
_Das Chinesische Pidgin Englisch_ by W. Bisang. University of Amsterdam:
Dept. of South and Southeast Asian Studies, 1985.
I then went to Amazon.com. *_^ ..... _nada_... =(
I am keenly interested in obtaining assistance in acquiring more
information and any _Ham Soi_ materials (especially any phrasebooks,
dictionaries, wordlists).
AiYaH!!!, I even would like to get the Bisang book, la. (If I have
problems reading the Dutch fluently, I could always get an assist from my
Dutch-educated Indonesian relatives & certain wonderful conlangers on this
list ; )
