your mate... unless we're talking about animals. Though I can't speak
for everyone. But the gay people who I've known have generally referred
to their partner as either their partner or their boyfriend).
So yeah, mate is not blind to marital status: it prohibits it (in my
dialect).
(And I've made the assumption here that nonfurs==straight. If it means
nongay, my comments still hold though. In fact, if it means tomato, my
comments still hold, they might just seem a little out of context.)
