Yes indeed. There are many implications to work out.
The Byzantines might wind up taking on the role of fighting with the
Austrians etc. over the Balkans for centuries.
And where will I put the Turks when they fail to conquer "Turkey"? In Iraq &
Iran I suppose.
As I mentioned earlier, the difficulty of working out the conhistory has led
me to consider working on a slightly different langauge, "Frankish B," which
will be spoken in a world identical to ours except for the existence of a small
Frankish-speaking minority in Israel. The politcal history would all be the
same.
