Find something that is almost essential to include...and don't. Find
something almost pointless, and add it. When the letters get to be too
similar to something else, turn them, stretch them, or squash them. Or
you could try combining that with another letter to make it more complex.
But you wouldn't want that with a notescript.

But if you just make each symbol horribly complex, you needn't worry
much.
