That has already been going on for a while. At this point, for every new
message sent approximately one message disappears from the archives. A few
months ago everything before a certain point (including a lot of stuff from
before the Listserv era) was wiped away and lost forever.
I don't know who is the listowner on Yahoo, though. I guess it doesn't make any
difference, since the archives are safe with Brown anyway.
