St. Gotteschalk is the patron of linguists,
having translated sermons into Slavonic. 7 June
is his day. Though that's no more "linguistic"
than Jerome who translated the bible into Latin.
Arguments could also be made for Cyril &
Methodius who devised the Glagolitic/Cyrilic
alphabet.
I'd prefer Hildegard because she's a cònlanger.
