Yes, as a matter of fact they are, these days. However,
these two congregations have been yoked for 50 years.
Back in those days, St. John's was part of the old
Evangelical & Reformed Church (E&R), which later became
part of the UCC. And before that, St. John's belonged to
the German Evangelical Synod of North America, the
denomination in which Reinhold Niebuhr grew up.
I myself am a Presbyterian, with both Presbyterian and
Lutheran strands in my family background, so altogether
it works out pretty well. :-)
