Results to date of my work on this font can be seen at--
http://cinduworld.tripod.com/gwr_script.htm (that's "gwr_script"). Sorry
the jpg's are a bit slow, and the roman annotations on the font image are
not always clear.
Problems:
1. at present, the dipthongs are two keystrokes, which sometimes causes the
finals not to connect with the consonant bar. It would be laborious, but I
could make individual symbols for the diphthongs (there are 16). This would
also help with---
2. Tone marks: ideally, the keystroke sequence should be Consonant -
vowel/diphthong - final - tone, but it seems impossible to type the tonemark
behind the final. Any suggestions? At present, the tonemarks sometimes
work in the sequence C-V/D-TONE-Final, and with further tinkering would
probably work consistently. I can live with that, though it's not the way
a Gwr keyboard would work. I'd like to hear from those of you who've
designed complex systems like this-- though must confess I may not
understand what you say......:-)
3. I don't entirely understand why the C symbols are so dark and thick while
the Vs are quite light, though I suppose it has to do with their relative
sizes. Also, the image shows the script at 32 point, and below 20 point the
Vs become really unreadable. Should I enlarge everythng? Or would it help
to make the V space larger-- make the C uprights a bit shorter and move
their bar up??? (I should play around with this, now that I mention
it.....)
