Sorry 'bout the lateness of this -- paper-writing and illness have
kept me away from it. Generally speaking, the lang is an sonorous one;
it reminds me of Tolkien's languages. One thing that seems unusual,
from the perspective of natlangs, is how the ergative encodes *both*
agent and goal, two thematic roles which tend never to be encode in
the same case in the same language. If you're looking for case
syncretism with the ergative, merging it with the instrumental is IMO
the way to go. That's quite common cross-linguistically.
