He seems to be unable to understand the concept of joining the list
before posting. I've now explained it to him in very simple terms, so
maybe he'll appear here or on AUXLANG.

Spam is normally understood as UCE --- unsolicited commercial email.
This is not commercial, so it's not spam. Mailing people repeatedly
after they ask you to stop may still be in violation of the AUP of
mail.yahoo.au, of course --- it's certainly not polite.
