Define mental illness?

Isn't Mental Illness just a way to say "Evolution"? Those who can not handle
the modern world? Or is it something else?

I have known persons who live on the street, even in the coldest of weather,
and they are well balanced, or atleast it seems so. So they are not into the
9-5 rat race, and all it entails. They are not tied to their computer, cell
phone and like, but is that a bad thing?

Not all on the street are mentally ill, some maybe saner than many who work
every day in some boring 9-5 job, go home to their 2.5 kids and wife, drink
the 1 glass of booze/6 pack of beer or like, and sleep. And die at around 50
years old due to basic burn out..

I will agree sadly no one wants a half-way house or like in their backyard,
even in places like Nome Alaska that prides it self on Elder care, does not
seem to want it..

I used to hang with a few Vietnam vets (The joys of living in Alaska is the
percentage of them here), many got out and moved to Alaska cause the world
was no longer a nice place for them. They were different, thought
differently, and in ways spoke differently.

Not sure of any answers. I do know I use Conlang as an escape in ways, but
also as a way to open up, to think about how things are said, why, and
constructed..
