I could swear I've heard "making your picture" in the active sense,
but I can't recall the context.

Knoxville is forever associated in my mind with the 1982 World's Fair
(You've got to be there!) I assume there was a commemoration of the
25th anniversary this year?

I don't believe I've encountered that usage. IME you can have your
hair done, or your nails done, but not your picture..
