I had heard about Esperanto and Tolkein and Okrand, but I think I was in the
shower when I suddenly thought, "Hey, I think I WILL make that language!
Yeah, why not a whole grammar and vocabulary? I'm certainly capable of
moving beyond a few irregular, clipped phrases!" When I started my first
language, the thought never occured to me that other people did this because
it was fun, not for a book or world peace or money. I thought I had really
lost it. It was only after I "finished" my first attempt that I found out
other people did this. Wow, was I floored. I thought it would be an
isolated incident, but when I found out that not only was I not crazy but
that there were lots of other people doing this too, I was hooked. Does that
count as spontaneous? Well, it was semi-spontaneous.
