Indeed. :-( I think his _Operation Chaos_ was responsible for some
75% of my vocabulary gain in 7th grade. My sister was enchanted by
_Three Hearts and Three Lions_, and while I don't feel any need to
reread it, _The Broken Sword_ was fascinatingly bleak.

<sardonic g> I noticed that sort of slipstream wordage in Greg
Bear's _Queen of Angels_ and "Hardfought." I found it more annoying
than endearing...there are authors who can *do* things like that and
it's enchanting, but....
