Well, since the verb spearates the noun from the possessive, I'm under the impression that the possessive is more a pronoun here, and that the whole thing is more a "a son is mine" structure (equating), rather than "my son exists" (existing) like in Quechua (where the possessive is an affix on the noun IIRC).
