Consonants-only seems also to be relatively popular.

I'd second that, except I also found it useful as a way to imply a loud,
aggressive, determined etc. voice without resorting to full-blown SHOUTING.
Eg. "you'd beTTER oR elSE!"
In conlanging, I've considered using capitalization to mark stress, but the
results were hideous. However, I have found them to be relatively suitable
for glottalization of stops.
