Well, in 'merica we have things called sidewalks, paved roads, and door
mats =) (kidding).
Also, in a lot of places, we don't have a lot of wet weather
(California). so, dirt and mud on floors isn't a problem (here the worst
stuff you can track in is sand). Also, if you're vigilant about cleaning
the carpets it's not a problem.
